  Case #16 “And a Player is Down”

You watch your high school daughter play basketball with a vengeance. She loves it, plays hard, and the last thing you might imagine is her collapsing on the court. But we all know, although rare, young athletes can suddenly collapse.

1. What are the warning signs in young athletes that they may be at risk for sudden death?

2. If you witness an athlete collapse, what do you do?

3. How likely is this to occur? What is the cause?
