McLaren Regional Medical Center has initiated a new program to honor their staff, contracted employees and volunteers called “Beyond the Stars”. This new recognition plan debuted on April 1, 2008 by presenting the first award to our very own Emergency Medicine Director, Dr. Ray Rudoni.
The Beyond the Stars tribute is granted quarterly after nominations have been reviewed by McLaren’s Customer Service Council. The Customer Service Council’s criteria to choose each deserving recipient is stated as, “The recipients of the Beyond the Stars award make a personal commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Exceptional customer service involves exceeding customer expectations, where the standards and level of service received, surpass what the customer could reasonably define as normal or expected.” Ray is the ideal candidate to initiate this program. The many reasons include his dedication to the straight back policy in the ED, the promotion of providing the customers with our business cards, as well as his ability to interact with all of the subspecialists in the hospital to provide the best possible care for the patients in the Emergency Department. His dedication is evident in his personal interaction with the patients. He frequently strolls through the department chatting with patients and family members to ensure their care expectations are being met. He has likely handed out more warm blankets than any employee!
As a recipient of Beyond the Stars, Dr. Rudoni will receive many accolades
such as a cash award, recognition on the McLaren Beyond the Stars plaque, which
will be displayed on the Wall of Fame, a photograph and article to appear in the
hospital newsletter and recognition at appropriate meetings. Congratulations Ray
on this well deserved honor!
