by Charlene Irvin, M.D., F.A.C.E.P. and Elizabeth Bascom, M.D.

Residents and faculty from both St. John Hospital and Medical Center and St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital, Oakland Center have been active in presenting research this spring.

In April, presentations were made at the International Emergency Medicine Conference in San Francisco and at the Emergency Medicine Residents Association of Michigan (EMRAM) Spring Annual Resident Research Day in Lansing, Michigan. Additionally, St. John Hospital and Medical Center hosted its Annual Resident Research Day. Judith Tintinalli, one of the founding women in emergency medicine and editor of one of the main emergency medicine textbooks, presided as a judge. Dr. Bascom participated as a moderator and judge at the EMRAM and at the St. John Resident Research Day.

May was also a busy month for research programs. Faculty and residents presented at the Michigan Osteopathic Association’s Research Program and the SAEM Regional New York meeting. At the June 1st SAEM National Research Conference in Washington, D.C., two posters were presented.

The following are a few highlights:
